Tuscan Archipelago Daily Cruises

»Posted

If you need ideas on cool things to do during your next vacation in Tuscany here is a great opportunity to discover the Tuscan archipelago and its green jewels in an inexpensive, fun and convenient way. Each island facing the Tuscan coast is a splendid natural retreat with a very marked identity, history and characteristic. They are six and their names are Elba, Giglio, Giannutri, Montecristo, Capraia, and Pianosa. Two privately owned, Tuscany based small-cruise companies provide a very comprehensive and cheap cruise service of the Tuscan archipelago. One is Blunavy, with a fleet of three yachts that, with various combinations, cover the islands with one day cruises. Blue Navy offers four main cruises and other minor excursions. Thriftytuscany.com Gone Mobile

»Posted

A long due update on Thriftytuscany.com was its mobile edition. Finally you can browse the website and have a good 95% of its functionalities squeezed in your mobile phone. Squeezed is the right word, as it took quite a lot of resizing and fitting to make everything work in just 320 pixels and make it readable, usable and fast on lower speed connections. Unfortunately some functionalities had to be cut out, such as the slideshow inside each property page, and the direct contact from the interactive map page. Everything else was kept pretty much unaltered, and if your phone allows javascript, you will have no problems accessing all features. The resize is best fit for iPhones, as they have the largest viewport and made it possible to fit in more while keeping...

What’s New on Thriftytuscany.com?

Thriftytuscany.com just got some changes in graphics and functionality that we are sure will be appreciated by our users. Graphic modifications did not require a plastic surgeon to complete. It was more of a makeup job. The thumbnails in property list pages were too small to get a good look at first glance, so we just made them much bigger. Now you can see how nice those Tuscan properties are without squinting! We also added a “more details” button to make it more clear that the story was not going to end right there, and an “add to favorites” link. We are especially fond of the favorites feature because it is a great time saving tool. It lets you organize your search on ThriftyTuscany.com creating a nice wish-list. You can then view all...

Updated - Direct Flight from New York to Pisa

»Posted

**UPDATE** Stephanie was kind enough to comment on the fact that Delta is not going to offer this service during the mid spring season. Waiting for some other company to step in. For those who are planning their travel arrangements to Tuscany and do not not already know, there is a direct flight from New York, JFK to Pisa Airport. The flight is operated by Delta Airlines and is operative since January 1, 2007. The service is the fourth by Delta in Italy that connects with New York. Milan, Venice, and Rome are the three other cities with direct flights to New York from Italy. It must be said that Delta is the carrier with the greatest number of flights from Europe to the States. Also important to notice that the flight is the only direct flight from Tuscany and New...
